Organizational Description:

The Iranian Canadian Alliance  for a Democratic Iran, is a grass-roots loose network of Iranian-Canadian young professionals who have created an advocacy

organization to provide research and policy recommendations to support the Iranian revolution and peaceful transition to a secular,

democratic republic in Iran.

Past Iran Activities / Background:

As it relates to Iran, Soushiant has been a community organizer and human rights advocate for over 15 years. Between 2006-2009, was a

policy analyst covering the Iranian Nuclear crisis for a Canadian non-proliferation think tank (Simons Centre for Nuclear Non Proliferation Research).

Over the past 15 years Soushiant has been involved in organizing several human and civic rights advocacy initiatives that gained national and international recognition and the support of the

highest elected officials in Canada. He has also worked with Article19, Freedom House, United4Iran, the Association of the Families of Flight PS752, as well as global human rights leaders

including Dr. Ahmad Shaheed (The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran), Dr. Shirin Ebadi, and others, writing reports about Iran’s Computer Crimes Law, highlighting the role of foreign companies in aiding internet censorship in Iran, and delivering capacity building workshops to citizen journalists to safely get critical information out of Iran.
